A Useless Box only has one simple function: when you turn it on, it turns itself off. My useless box was based on a flower bush. The dome shape was created by melting and molding 3mm thick acrylic over a specially made wooden mold, which was then sandblasted to create the "frosted" effect. The design on the dome was created by laser-cutting masking tape and sticking the tape on to the dome,before sandblasting it. Once the sandblasting was done, the masking tape was peeled off and the the whole dome was washed or any residue. 

 

Unfortunately, 2 days before my submission deadline, the final box had an accident resulting in a big crack in the middle of the top half of the box. To be able to hand in my project in time, I had to find a quick solution. Fortunately, it was working by submission time.
